FAQ

ShootScore is an app, originally developed for use in a Western Australian SSAA firearms club. It is intended to be used in recreastional target shooting matches, specifically Mandar and Field matches using WA SSAA rules. Other matches may be included in the future, please contat us with detailed descriptions of your requirements and we will endeavour to add funtionality to the system.

#1 Is the ShootScore server an essential part of the system?

Whilst it is true that ShootScore app runs as a standalone system, the functionality is greatly enhanced by the server. Due to the nature of the system standalone matches are limited to 8 Sequences of 6 shots (Standard WA Mandar) This is a typical configuration for most matches in our club and therefore is suitable for this task. The Shootscore Server allows varying round counts and numbers of sequences. Added to this the Server allows you to keep an eye on your competitors using the live scoreboard, your scorer will be saved hours of data entry time and you won't need to fill in your old paper score card (or do any math).

#2 Is the app available for purchase?

The ShootScore app is currently available for purchase on Google Play. We envisage release on the Apple app store shortly.

#3 I want to save my scores for future reference, is this possible?

Certainly. ShootScore app saves score lists to .csv files on your device. Due to the nature of devices those files have a habit of being saved in various locations. The system uses the device 'documents' directory. The file location is then reported to the user.

#4 What are the system requirements?

ShootScore makes use of the Adobe Air runtime, Air is required for deployment to devices, Typically Air installation is managed by your device upon installation.

Android - the Android app requires version 2.2 or greater

IOS - the IOS version has been tested on version 5.1.1 and Version 7, It is supported by all versions.

Server - The server requires php5 and MySQL, it has been tested on Ubuntu 12 LTS with apache, PHP and MySQL. It is reasonable to assume that any working linux distro will be sufficient. The server comes bundled with various display and editing apps, there require minimal system resources due to the client-server nature of the system.
